Apple turnovers are one of my favourite snacks to make. They are  super easy to make and great to serve with coffee when you have people coming over.

Ingredients (makes 6):

Puff pastry// 1/2 cooking apple// 20 g raisins// 2 tsp sugar + extra// 1 tsp cinnamon

First, pre-heat the oven to 220°C. Then peel the apple and remove the core. Then cut it up into little pieces.

Combine the apple, raisins, cinnamon and sugar in a bowl and mix them together.

Lay out the puff pastry and cut it in half using a knife. Then roll it out and cut it in 3 equal square pieces (depending on what type your using, you basically need 1 square piece of puff pastry for every apple turnover). Then add about 2 tbsp of the apple mixture on one half of the square. Just make sure you don't add too much, you need to be able to fold it closed.

Fold the square closed and push down the sides carefully. Then drizzle over a little bit of cold water on the top and dip it into some sugar. This creates a nice layer on top. Repeat these steps for the other 5.

Now lay out your apple turnovers on a baking sheet on an oven tray and bake them in the oven for 15 minutes, until they are golden brown.

Just take them out of the oven when the time is up and leave them  to cool down a bit. And that's it!

Do you like apple turnovers?
